Heidegger and Scripture: The Callingof Thinking in Our Abandonment

Abstract:
This paper seeks to perform an interdisciplinary reading of some scriptural passages inlight of Heidegger's phenomenology generally and his discussion of thinking in particular. The papertreats one passage from Isaiah and two from the Gospels of Luke and John that highlight the humansituation of signification (or meaning) and abandonment (or alienation).
Using Heidegger's descriptionof experience, which roots the logic and unfolding of meaning as expressing the structure of humanexistence, the paper proposes that the movement toward the divine that each of the scriptural passagesembodies (albeit each in its own unique situation) moves us toward an essential insight--namely that thehuman being exists as a divine sign of care. As such a sign, humans exist not just as the reception of thecalling but also as the very calling of thinking itself.

L. Wittgenstein y Frank Ramsey cuentan entre los filosofos mas influyentes del siglo XX. La historia estandar cuenta que no tuvieron ninguna influencia del pragmatismo, ya que en los anos (segunda y tercera decada del siglo XX) el pragmatismo "atacado ferozmente" (Misak, 2016) por Russell, Moore y hasta por el mismo Wittgenstein.
El presente libro de Cheryl Misak: Cambridge pragmatism. From Peirce and James to Ramsey and Wittgenstein (Oxford University Press,2016) pretende dar cuenta de que la historia antes dicha no es correcta, sino que por el contrario, la influencia del pragmatismo fue muy importante en el L. Wittgenstein posterior al Tractatus y en Frank Ramsey.
